Labiaplasty

This procedure has been available since 1985 but has more recently been popularised by the greater awareness of its availability. This is a surgical procedure performed to vary the shape of the inner labia in a female (the labia minora).

Female patients have various reasons for undergoing this procedure, from discomfort when wearing tight pants, self- consciousness when wearing swimsuits, or simply for a visual improvement of the inner labia. The patient may wish to decrease the size of the inner labia, alter the shape, correct differences in symmetry, or changes in pigmentation.

There are three to four different techniques available for this procedure, depending on the goals of the surgery, as determined after consultation with the specific concerns reported by the patient. It is a day procedure, with a 4 to 6 -week recuperation period afterwards. It is a very successful procedure that restores confidence discreetly.
